Parts of the SKULL
FACE = Has 14 parts
ZYGOMATIC (2) = Cheek bones
Lacrimal (2)= Smallest bones / form part of the medial wall of the orbit
Nasal (2) = Bridge of nose
Inferior Nasal Conchae (2) = Within the nasal cavity; increases amount of air
Palatine (2) = Roof of mouth
Maxilla (2) = Upper jaw and hard palate located in the middle of skull below the nose.
Vomer (1) = Midline bone that divides the nasal cavity
Mandible/Jaw (1) = Base of cranium or lower jawline.
CRANIUM = HAS 8 parts
Frontal Bone (1) = The forehead
Parietal Bones (2) = Flat bones on the top of head
Temporal Bones (2) = Irregular bones under the parietal
Occipital Bone (1) = Back of the head or skull
Sphenoid Bone (1) = Butterfly-like and sits below the frontal bone behind the eyes
Ethmoid Bone (1) = Irregular bone that sits below frontal bone. Forms large part of the nasal cavity
ASSOCIATED BONES
Malleus (2) = Transmits vibrations of the eardrum to the incus
Incus (2) = Transmits vibrations between the malleus and stapes
Stapes (2) = Transmits vibrations between the malleus and stapes
