2.3 -Types Of Leadership
Democratic - This leadership style allows everyone to participate in decision making. This leadership style works well within industries with creative people. Natural leaders will take a sort of charge with their ideas.
Autocratic / Authoritarian - This type of leader will be in full control of the task at hand. This leader allows no other input and this individual has full control over the decision making and control over their followers. i
Laissez-Faire - This type of leadership requires a lot of trust. A laser-faire leader depends on their employees in all aspects of work. The allow their employees to have freedom within their work and do not micromanage. This type of leader only takes responsibility when it is needed.
Affiliative - This leadership style takes the "people first" approach. An affiliative leader possess strong empathy and emotional intelligence. The main objective is to create strong bonds in the workplace. This style will prioritize people over the work being done.
Emergent - This type of leader is not elected or selected , this leader progressively steps up overtime. The are self identified as a leader and not assigned the job. This type of leader has no formal status or authority over others.
Transactional - This type of leader is someone who focuses on a strictly followed structure and values. These types of leaders are more likely to lead military groups, big corporations or help lead international projects or be national leaders.
Transformational - This type of leadership is a leadership approach that causes a change in individuals and social systems. It creates valuable and positive change in the followers with the end goal of developing followers into leaders.
Pace Setting - A pace setting leader maintains high standards and expectations for their team. This leader possesses the "do as I say" approach. This leader is able to help their team reach hard goals and leaves little to know creativity or freedom.
Visionary - This leadership style is a leader that focuses on a long-term plan for the future. A strong visionary leader has a clear idea of the future, which they communicate to their employees to build a community of collaboration and teamwork
Situational - This type of leader is very adaptive when it comes to what they have to do for their team. This type of leader will be able to change their approach to help achieve the preferred outcome.
2.4 - Power
Legitimate power - is granted through the organization of hierarchy. For example: The power a police officer possesses when arresting a citizen.

Coercive Power - is the power to force compliance by psychological, emotional or physical threats. For example: Employee pay cuts.
Political Power - comes from the support of a group or network of influence. For example: A Prime Minster
Reward Power - is the power to give or withhold rewards. For example: A parent rewarding a child for good acts.
Referent Power - is based on idenification with, initiation of loyalty to and charm of the leader. For example: A managers who is admired by their employees.

An Effective Team
An effective team will: Share and build on other’s ideas allowing more creativity to occur. They will be able to openly examine and resolve differences within the group. They will be able to productively discuss objectives and task of team until everyone in the group is in a common understanding and all agrees on this decision. Finally, they will reach decisions based off of everyones input and differences.
