Siddhartha Gautama, The Buddha
-
His life
Born as a prince, he was destined either to be a great conqueror or a great redeemer.
His father wanted for him to be the great conqueror, so he shielded the prince from anything ugly, diseased, dead, or unpleasant, and gave him anything a man could ever want.
One day, Siddhartha wanted to take a ride throughout the city. Despite his father's efforts to keep anything unpleasant away from the royal procession, Siddhartha encountered an old man, a diseased man, a corpse, and a monk.
Siddhartha was then motivated to find the cure to all suffering, and left his family, and his home to find it.
He studies Hindu Yoga and asceticism, and still could not find Nibbana.

Nibbana - also known as Nirvana, is the ultimate goal of Buddhism, and is their equivalent to heaven
