In small intestine chyme to futher break down the food for digestion, when the chyme is stirred peristaltic is temporaly stoped for absorption to occur.
And then food travels through the colon, haustral contractions occur, contraction produces large sacs in the colonic wall which are areas for absorption

Epidemiology amebiasis
Amoebiasis is also widely spread across countries around the world. In various surveys show frequency between 0.2 – 50%. Species Entamoeba attacks 10% of the world's population. High prevalence reaches 50% in Asia, Africa and southern America.
WHO says that about 15% of all diarrhea incidents in children under the age of 5 are dysentery. The results of an evaluation survey in Indonesia in 1989-1990 also showed the same incidence rate.
