Fingerprint, . 3 major pattern: loop, arch and whorl - Coggle Diagram
Fingerprint
BASIC PROPERTIES
Chemical
Latent fingerprints are colourless impression that are produced by natural oil or sweat that has a number of chemical compounds such as water content, inorganic ions, proteins, amino acids, and lipids.
Biological
-Genes that control the development of the various layers of skin, as well as the muscles, fat, and blood vessels underneath the skin, may all play a role in determining the pattern of ridges.
PRESERVATION OF EVIDENCE
PLASTIC FINGERPRINT
Generally can be seen in 3D, thus it is visible to naked eyes.
-
This liquid material is poured over the fingerprint and then it is hardened to make a cast of the impression.
Casting is a liquid material made up of silicone rubber, plaster, or metal alloy.
-
VISIBLE FINGERPRINT
-
Example: dust, paint, blood, ink and cosmetics.
It can be formed when fingers are contaminated with foreign matter as it touches a suitable surfaces.
-
LATENT FINGERPRINT
-
-
It can be composed by sweat, body oil/grease and dirt.

. 3 major pattern: loop, arch and whorl
Loop Pattern
Almost 60% of human population has this pattern.
One ridge will enter from one side, curve around & then exit at the same side.
Teo subtypes: Radial loop and Ulnar loop.
Radial loop: loop opens in the direction of the thumb
Ulnar loop: loop opens in thr direction of the little finger. :f

Arch pattern
arch fingerprint come into two types ,plain and tinted with no delta.arch fingerprint have ridges that form a hill and some arch look like have a pointed tend shape. Beside this Arch fingerprint are the least common type of fingerprint which is only 1% of the population has this pattern.
Whorl Pattern
2nd most common pattern. There are four types; plain whorl, central pocket whorl, double loop whorl and accidental whorl.
