Formative
Definition: This assesses students in the classroom and during practice in the instruction of the lesson. This will modify and adjust the instruction so students can be successful.
Writing Sentences: Students will write 3 sentences combining sentences together using ,and as an exit ticket.
Noun, adjective, and verb sorting game in the middle of the unit.
Interim/Benchmark
Definition: This is to determine if students' learning is on track with grade level and how well they will do on future assessments.
STAAR: Texas standardized test given to assess students' knowledge learned/achievement in grade level.
District Assessments: Tests given each 9 weeks to determine students and teachers are on the right track throughout the year to learn and teach.
Summative
Definition: These are used to evaluate student learning at the end of a unit. Students will have learned everything they need to succeed in this prior to the summative assessment.
Content Focus Assessment: A test at the end of 1-2 weeks to assess specific content learned in those 1-2 weeks.
Essay: Written essay (10 sentences) over a topic to make sure students' understand writing steps and grammar.

Diagnostic
Definition: This uses forms of pre-assessments to figure out students' strengths and weaknesses to adjust lessons.
Running Record: Teachers assess students' reading levels so they can progress students throughout the year.
Pre-Assessment: Teachers give this so they can adjust their teaching to help misconceptions and lean on students' strengths in the upcoming lesson.
