Definition: Formative Assessment is a way of assessing students to get feedback to use for modifying and adjusting instruction. These assessments are low stakes, so they have little to no grade value.

Definition: Interim/Benchmark assessments are used to see if students are on track with their learning

Summative
Definition: Summative assessments are used to evaluate student learning at the end of a unit. These have a high grade value.

Definition: An assessment that requires students to perform a task rather than regular tests/answering questions.

Diagnostic
Definition: These are used as forms of pre-assessment to determine a students strength and weaknesses as well as prior misconceptions. This helps teachers plan their lesson plans.
