Formative
Definition: Formative assessments gather evidence of student learning for the purpose of providing feedback and adjusting instruction.
One-Pager: Students will create a visual reflection on their knowledge through drawing or inserting pictures and key information that is briefly described or bulleted over what they learned in the lesson.

3-2-1 Exit Ticket: Students complete a Google Form with 3 facts they learned, 2 things they found interesting, and 1 question they still have after the lesson.

Summative
Definition: Summative assessments are used at the end of a unit to evaluate student learning. This can include standardized testing, final exams, and research projects.
Mid-term/Final Exams: Students take a comprehensive test at the end or half way mark of a semester to evaluate their knowledge.
Research Project: Students conduct research on their own based on a topic from the semester to create a product such as an essay that showcases their gained knowledge.
Interim/Benchmark
Definition: Interim assessments/ benchmarks occur periodically throughout the school year in a more formal style such as projects, written assignments, and tests.
STAAR: Texas' state testing program that determines whether a student has learned the curriculum assigned to the grade to which they belong.
MAP: The MAP, measure of academic progress, test is a computer-adaptive assessment for elementary students that includes the content areas of reading and math.
Performance
Definition: A performance assessment is an assessment where the students are required to execute a task rather than answer questions.
Dance Performance Assessment: Students will perform a memorized dance phrase taught by the teacher as an assessment.
Journals: Students keep a journal of weekly realizations, improvements, corrections, and other gained knowledge as they go throughout the semester to submit at the end of the semester.
Diagnostic
Definition: Diagnostic assessments are forms of pre-assessments to determine misconceptions, strengths, and weaknesses of individual students.
KWL Chart: KWL charts assist in learning through asking students what their prior knowledge on a topic is, what they want to know, and what they learned at the end of a lesson. The "K" column that discusses prior knowledge is used as a form of a diagnostic assessment.

Survey: Teachers can use Google Forms, paper, or other resources to conduct a questionnaire or survey on students background knowledge regarding the topic being taught in the upcoming lesson.
