Alpine- of, relating to, or resembling the Alps or any mountain.
Basin- a depression, or dip, in the Earth's surface.
Coastal Plain- a flat, low-lying piece of land next to the ocean.
Drought- a deficiency of precipitation over an extended period of time resulting in no water.
Endangered Species- when it's population has declined at least 70 percent and the cause of decline is known.
Flora- all the plant life present in a particular region or time, generally the naturally occurring native plants.
Grasslands- made up of large open areas of grass.
Huemul- a yellowish- brown deer of the genus Hippocamelus.
Patagonia- semiarid scrub plateau that covers nearly all of the southern portion of mainland Argentina.
Rain forest- an area of tall,mostly evergreen trees and a high amount of rainfall.
Savanna- vegetation type that grows under hot, seasonally dry climatic conditions and is characterized by an open tree canopy.
Tropical- regions of the Earth that lie roughly in the middle of the globe.
Waterfall- a river or other body of water's steep fall over a rocky ledge into a plunge pool below.
Watershed- a land area that channels rainfall and snow melt to creeks, streams, and rivers, and eventually to outflow points such as reservoirs, bays, and the ocean.
Arboreal- adapted to living on trees.
Biodiversity- a term used to describe the enormous variety of life on Earth.
Canopy- a layer formed by the branches and crowns of plants and trees.
Dense- the number of things-which could be people, animals, plants, or objects in a certain area.
Fungi- organisms that survive by decomposing and absorbing nutrients in organic materiel such as soil or dead organisms.
Pampas- extensive lowland plains of South America extending across east central Argentina.
Thermal Inversion- a layer in the atmosphere in which air temperatures increases in height.
Tributary- a freshwater stream that feeds into a large stream or river.
Fauna- all of animal life present in a particular region or time.
Biome- an area classified according to the species that live in that location.
Frost- water vapor, or water in gas form, that becomes solid.
