CPU
Memmory registers- temporaraly stores the data needed for the ALU and the info produced by the ALU
Primary memory
the memory that can be acccesed easily by the CPU
RAM
thus temporary stores data
the data will be erased when the electricity is gone
aka volatile memory
has both read and write facility
Cache memory
aka CPU memmory
acts as the mediator between the CPU and the primary memmory
data used frequently are stored in here
ROM
aka non volatile memory
the data will nor be erased when the computer is switched off
BIOS (the commands needed for booting up the computer) is stored here
Secondary memory
devuce witch stores permanent data
aka external stotrage
non volatile memory
has internal and external portable secondary devices
ALU
performs all matahmatical and logical funtions
CU
controls all the devices in the computer
