Formative
Definition: Process of assembling evidence of student learning, giving feedback. Modify instruction strategies to enhance performance. Low risk and have little to no grade value. Used mainly to guide instruction.
Exit Ticket- After teaching a lesson on character traits the teacher hands everyone a sticky note. On sticky note students have to write one character trait they have and one the teacher has. Then they must write any questions they still have about the lesson.
Discussion questions- Students would be called on during the lesson by teacher. Teacher will use leveled questioning and guide her instruction based on student answers.
Performance
Definition: An assessment that are completed by performing a task rather than testing or questions based.
Create a rap- Students will have to create a song or rap to perform during class to show their knowledge.

Summative
Definition: Used to evaluate the end of a large chunk of learning. These are high stakes, so they have a high-grade value.

Diagnostic
Definition: Assessment that are pre-assessments. Diagnostic are used to find student's strengths, weakness, and misconceptions. This data helps teachers change their instructions to help students.
Students Surveys- Students will answer questions based on what they know. Students will also be asked question that could show their misconceptions. This is a good way for teachers to see students' thoughts before the lesson.

Interim/Benchmark
Definition: Track the placement on student understanding of the curriculum. Also tracks students' future assessment success

Map Growth- Math, Science, ELAR assessment that in online to show students achievement and where they would place in the STARR assessment.
