All of the organs within a system work together to carry out a common goal. For example, when you eat something, all of the parts of your digestive system communicate with each other, along with the rest of your body. Your stomach and intestines are separate organs, but they work together with your intestines to digest your food and supply your body with nutrients. The skeletal system is made from bones, joints, tendons, and ligaments, and all are joined together to function in unison.
