Historical Context
Historical Context - The setting within which sacred writers consciously produced their works, or effects and times within which God's sacred revelation is crouched.
Extra Biblical History - Egyptian, Babylonia, Persian, Greek Roman.
Biblical History - Chronology of Israel, Christ, or Paul's journeys

Culture - The manners, customs, institutions, and principles which characterized any particular age and environment within which people conduct their lives.
Geography - The science which studies the movement of people within a land, the topography of the land, and the ramifications of these upon the people living in the lands.
Literary Context

Poetry - Reflective, heightened speech (using imagery) to express intensified feelings or insight.
Historical Narrative - A true, historical story structured to learn theological truth
Parables - Comparisons with pictorial or narrative images. The story parables can be either analogies or example stories.
Epistles - An opening including an author, address,greeting,a blessing to God, and a prayer.
Prophecy - The form of Old Testament prophecy. Announcement of salvation. Announcement of judgement.

The theme of the Book. The theology of the author within the book. The theology of the author within his other books.

The Unity of Scripture - Scriptures interpret scriptures. comparing passages to similar affirmations from the Bible which precede your passage chronologically.
