- Allows for relationship bonding between families and the school
- Ensures that the safety and well-being of children are met when they arrive/depart from school
- Encourages families to interact with staff
- Bring children to the washroom to wash their hands before having their meals
- Proceed to the dining area/classrooms for meal time
- Teachers must put on gloves before serving food to the children
- Teachers should ask children about their preferred food portion
- Give the child small servings first and encourage children to feed themselves
- For younger toddlers: Serve food in a bowl/tapered spoon, For older toddlers: Provide a bigger spoon

- Children should wash their hands after finishing their meals
- Teachers may allocate tasks to the children
For example, some children can give utensils/placemats. Others may be in charge of cleaning
- Teachers can educate children on meal etiquette
Some schools may encourage K1s onwards to scoop their own bowl of rice (With the supervision of adults to ensure hygiene is not compromised)
- When children are done with their meals, Teachers can encourage them to return their utensils
