Arguments: I want to talk about how there is concern that the sexual violence and objectification towards women by men in the industry is only continuing which will only regulate the distribution and normalize the violent talk. This is regressing the musical atmosphere even in comparison to when women were first introduced into mainstream music. I also want to point out how in this article it talks about how women are involved in our daily life. They are not some phenomenon or urban myth for our culture. They are our mothers, our daughters, our sisters, and our family. To listen and engage in music that talks about women in violent and degrading manners and then go home to a woman in your life is devaluing women no matter how much you think it isn't. I also want to talk about the male gaze because it is such a common theme among all of my sources so far. The male gaze is so harmful to the industry because the harmful stereotypes, expectations, beauty standards, sexualization, explicit imagery, etc. are all regulating the degradation of women.
Connection; This article and the K-pop article both talk about the male gaze and how it results in women being looked at as objects which is severely harmful to the women musicians while also being harmful to the people in society because these images, artworks, lyrics, etc. are statistically harmful to women.
