Nervous system
Diseases
Alzheimer’s
Bell’s palsy
Cerebral palsy
Epilepsy
Stroke
Neuron: basic unit of the nervous system
Dentritres: receives input from other nerve cells.
Soma or cell body: Contains nucleons
Axon: Transmit electrical response to other neurons.
Nerves are responsible of carrying messages to all parts of the body
Sensory
Motor
Mixed
Central: consists of the brain and spinal cord
Forebrain-most extensive part
The cerebrum is split into two hemispheres and each hemisphere has four lobes.
-frontal lobe (emotional center)
-temporal lobe (help with memory)
-parietal lobe ( allow to make sense of things we touch)
-occipital lobe (make sense of information that comes from our eyes)
Spinal cord- connect all parts of the body to the brain
Midbrain
Hindbrain
Important to maintain the homeostasis, made of neurons.
Afferent nerve fibers: transmitting messages from tissues and organs
.
Efferent nerve fibers: responsible for conveying messages
