FUNCTION 1
Data capturing
:
The data captures from various internal and external sources of an organization. Data capturing may be manual or through computer terminals. End users, typically record data about transactions on some physical medium such as paper form or enter it directly into a computer system.
FUNCTION 2
Processing of data :
The captured data is processed to convert it into the required management information. Processing of data is done by such activities as calculating, comparing, sorting, classifying and summarizing.
EXAMPLE 2
Education management Information System
Educational institutes, such as schools and universities, typically implement an information management system.
Track learning progression, communicate with students, distribute learning documents and review student performances.
Provide students with self-service features, such as submitting assignments, reviewing schedules, requesting documents and analysing their completed learning material

Hospital Management Information System
Uses a network of computers to collect, retrieve and process patient care & administrative information from various departments of hospital
To satisfy the functional requirement of the users.
Handle pharmacy, laboratory, radiology, nursing, information & user management configurations with medical archiving facilities for the digital health records.
FUNCTION 3
Storage information:
MIS will store both processed and unprocessed data for later use. Unused data will be saved as an organisational record and will be organised for future usage. Data stored is either organised in fields, records, files or databases.
