Reduce Waste and Recycle
Eliminating plastic bags can be done by reusable grocery bags.
Recycling can help plastic stay out of landfills
Reusable water bottles gets rid of plastic water use and the littering of our oceans. There are 8 million tons of plastic pollution caused by water bottles.
Don’t buy water because this increases the use of plastic water bottles.
Microbeads are micro pieces of plastic that are too small to be filtered by waste treatment plants and make their way to our oceans.
Purchasing our items second hand can help eliminate waste in our landfills.
Clean-up
Dispose of trash properly and responsibly. We can all do our part.
There should be more trash cans available on our beach’s and lakes.
Organize Cleanups and cleaning parties for our beaches
Holding companies responsible for oil spills would help clean up tremendously. 105 oil spills caused during Katrina still have not been dealt with and company has not been held accountable.
Spread awareness to others about the importance of cleaning up our messes.
Fish Responsibly
There should be tighter restrictions on fishing limits and sizes.
There needs to be better monitoring of large fishing boats and fishing out of seasons.
Fisherman and fisheries should be more mindful of ecosystems and protecting them more.
Large fishing nets should be banned completely. Some states have all ready implemented the ban of these nets. Many times the nets are left in the oceans and kill wildlife of all sorts

Heftier fines for illegal fishing should be implemented to keep illegal fisherman from fishing.
Inform Others
School Talks are a great way to inform others and get young adults into conservation early.
Speaking to others and spreading information is important. Knowledge is power and that knowledge, which may seem like common knowledge, can be spread to others
Signs and posters are a good way to inform others about conservation. Signs could be a permanent fixture for a particular location and could be a great way to inform someone about conservation.
Warning labels on everyday products is a good way to inform others.
Support Charity
Wildlife Conservation Society is a donation based company based out of New York. They own and operate several major zoos and think globally.
Green Peace is an organization that focuses on saving our planet and wildlife. They have several ways to help fight pollution, stop deep sea mining, and trying to adopt an Global Ocean Treaty that would protect many aspects of the ocean.
World Wildlife Fund is focused mostly on endangered species, many in our oceans.
The Woodland Trust that is based in the UK is about conservation for charity.
RSPB is global charity dedicated to conservation of lands and wildlife.
