The narrator has a bad relationship with the people in the house.
"House infested
With desire. Haunted house. Lonely house.
House of trick and suck and shrug.
Give-it-to-me house. I-need-you-baby house."
The women has a bad relationship with herself mentally.
"Just as it is, unmisted by love or dislike.
I am not cruel, only truthful"
She has a bad relationship with her body and thinks its her mirrors fault.
"I see her back, and reflect it faithfully.
She rewards me with tears and an agitation of hands"
In the first poem this week the son was talking about how he associated the smell of alcohol to the memory of his dad.
"The whiskey on your breath
Could make a small boy dizzy;
But I hung on like death"
The father is abusive and has a bad relationship with alcohol.
"You beat time on my head "
The women is struggling in Chicago and she feels alone till she looks around and relises she isn't.
"She is all the women of the apartment
building who stand watching her, watching themselves."
The women has a lot of trauma she wants to get ride of and a lot of toxic wants.
"She is several pieces between the two husbands"
"That’s when she wants
to have another child to hold onto in the night, to be able
to fall back into dreams."
The people in the house have created toxic relationships.
"House of guilt. House
That other houses built. House of lies
And pride and bone."
