need to interact with each other around texts. It greatly enhances their comprehension and makes it so much more enjoyable

Make real world connections between the books you read and your community, current events, etc.

We know that in any setting, success is the most powerful motivator. Teachers can help ensure the success of boys (and all students) in reading by differentiating text.
providing informational texts at three grade levels and in text-only, illustrated book, and electronic book formats. Teachers can also differentiate by allowing students to respond to text orally, in writing, or by drawing.
Boys & Literacy … there are clear differences along the gender line (this does not take into account effect LGBTQ may have) This may be a very good consideration to include, i.e., some students may not fit boy/girl categorization AND boy~girl groupings/labellings are to be avoided.
