Contributors of Climate Change
Over-Consumption
How can its affects be reduced?
No more buying of second houses or homes, driving or flying everywhere if it's unnecessary, no eating red meat every single day, maybe even reduced amount of water and electricity usage throughout the day, etc.
How does it contribute to Climate Change?
Over consumption leads to increased emissions from all sources, not only on the personal level but also on the local and global level. If you buy more gift paper to wrap presents the factory that produces the gift paper is also working overtime and producing more negative emissions.
What would a perfect world look like?
Every individual still living a decent and adequate life, with a comfortable yet not necessarily 'lavish' lifestyle, with reduced emissions and more sustainable living.
What is Over-Consumption?
The over consumption of any resource, whether that be water, food, energy, etc.
Food Production
How can its affects be reduced?
Changing food choices, reducing the carbon footprint left by factories and processing plants, using electric vehicles to transport resources, etc.
How does it contribute to Climate Change?
Food production has its own water and energy footprint that can cause damage to the world in its own ways. Livestock produce massive amounts of methane, hundreds of thousands of gallons of water are needed for livestock to grow and flourish, deforestation to make room for livestock harms the planet, vehicles are needed to transport the food, factories and machines are needed to process it all, etc.
What is Food Production?
Food production is the set of processes required to bring food from its source to you at your dinner table.
What would a perfect world look like?
Much reduced footprint and climate impact of every process that occurs in food production. This doesn't necessarily mean getting rid of meat or food processing plants, but just making accessing these more sustainable overall.
Energy Consumption
How does it contribute to Climate Change?
Harmful affects of the energy consumed end up worsening our environment and negatively impact our climate. One example of this is how some factories require oil or gas or coal (fossil fuels) to run, only to produce and release more harmful chemicals or resources into the atmosphere.
How can its affects be reduced?
Reduce the amount of usage these harmful process get, like using solar, wind, or water power, reducing water consumption, changing food options, etc.
What is Energy Consumption?
Every process involved that requires a resource for fuel and emits a dangerous or harmful resource in return.
What would a perfect world look like?
Every process that we require in our daily lives will be optimized and done in the most sustainable way possible. No factory will run on fossil fuels, for example, and each of these processes will on be carried out as needed (not leaving on something running that doesn't need to be.)
Deforestation
How can its affects be reduced?
Planting more trees, reducing the amount of emissions formed from machines and vehicles that are used in the deforestation process, reducing the amount of forests that are cut down to such a ridiculous degree (ex. only taking some trees rather than the whole forest.)
What would a perfect world look like?
Vehicles used in transporting materials are electric, factories and machines run on clean sustainable energy sources (and don't emit harmful chemicals, gasses, etc.), any tree cut down is replaced with a seed that will grow into another and too many trees aren't cut down in rapid succession.
What is Deforestation?
The cutting down of trees and forests en masse, so much so that it harms the environment irreparably. Every process that is involved in deforestation is included in this description as well (factories, machines, etc.)
How does it contribute to Climate Change?
Trees that are cut down can't consume excess amounts of carbon dioxide and can't produce more oxygen. These changes can harm the protective layer that helps make up our atmosphere (Ozone) and can have many other negative/dangerous affects.
Vehicle Use
How can its affects be reduced?
Sustainable energy vehicles. Essentially vehicles that run on electricity rather than fossil fuels so as not to further harm the environment with emissions from those vehicles.
How does it contribute to Climate Change?
The emissions from vehicles is one of the leading harmful resources that contributes to climate change and harming our overall environment. This is the case as many people have cars for personal reasons but some companies require trucks, or even planes, etc.
What would a perfect world look like?
Every vehicle used runs on sustainable energy, likely electricity. Short trips that don't require the use of a vehicle are taken using other forms of transportation, walking or biking for example.
What is Vehicle Use?
How often we use transportation that relies on fossil fuels to run and that also emit dangerous chemicals or fumes (smoke, etc.)
