AGRICULTURE TYPES
DRY FARMING
-
-
ADVANTAGES:---(1) retaining the precipitation on the land, (2) reducing evaporation from the soil surface to increase the portion of evapotranspiration used for transpiration, and (3) utilizing crops that have drought tolerance and that fit the precipitation patterns .
DISADVANTAGES:--Drought. During the dry season, humidity is very low, causing some watering holes and rivers to dry up. This lack of water
INTENSIVE AGRICULTURE
-
ADVANTAGES:--the crop yield is high. 2. It helps the farmer to easily supervise and monitor the land and protect his livestock from being hurt or hounded by dangerous wild animals
-
DISADVANTAGES:--acidification, nitrification, desertification, decline in organic matter in soil, soil contamination
SUBSISTENCE AGRICULTURE
It is a form of farming in which nearly all of the crops or livestock raised are used to maintain the farmer and the farmer's family
ADVANTAGES:-- Fertility of Soil will never be destroyed, the Land will saved from Degradation, Soil Erosion will be stopped
-
DISADVANTAGES:--burning destroys soil organisms.
burning alters soil structure ,easy spread of diseases.
unreliable family labour..
SHIFTING AGRICULTURE
cultivation in which a plot of land is cleared and cultivated for a short period of time, then abandoned and allowed to revert to producing its normal vegetation while the cultivator moves on to another plot.
ADVANTAGES:-- (1)larger space , (2)fertilizer is not required
-
DISADVANTAGES:-- (1) far from the settlement area, (2) creates fallow land
WET FARMING
-
ADVANTAGES:-- field can be used to grow other thing DISADVANTAGES:--- (1) need lot of water (2)need to take care
-
TERRACE AGRICULTURE
-
ADVANTAGES:--- Conservation of soil and water DISADVANTAGES:-- interference with water circulation and the development of serious environmental problems caused by poorly designed or mismanaged terraces
Terracing is an agricultural practice that suggests rearranging farmlands or turning hills into farmlands by constructing specific ridged platforms.
