Thoughts:
Sue is disappointed anf infuriated in Joe due to his lack of remorse towards the death of 21 pilots.
Effect on Others
Sue's presence serves as a remined for Chris Keller as she encourages him to continue to fight for what is right. Furthermore, she provides a sense of courage for Mother and Ann.
Actions
She is determined to make him confess, even though it means risking their relationship. She also tries to convince Joe to accept responsibility for his crimes, and to make Chris understand the consequences of his actions.
"There is not a person on the block who does not know the truth" (45)
Looks
Sue is described as a young woman in her nearing fourty with a bright, happy face and fair hair.
"She is rounding forty, an overweight woman who fears it." (9)
Opinion
Sue is critical of Joe Keller as she displays her strong disapproval when he 'pulls a fast one' to get out of jail. However, she respects Joe for resuming his business and providing for his family.
"Who is he to run a man's life? Everybody knows Joe pulled a fast one to get out of jail." (45)

Thoughts
Joe seems to believe that he has done nothing wrong and is convinced that he is a good man who has acted in the best interests of his family. He rationalizes his actions and believes that his cover-up was necessary to protect himself and his family from the consequences of his mistake.

The other characters in the play are also affected by Joe's actions, including his former business partner Steve, who goes to jail for Joe's mistakes, and Ann, Chris's fiancé, who is torn between loyalty to her own father and her love for Chris.

Actions
Joe Keller is depicted as a successful businessman who made a catastrophic mistake during World War II that resulted in the deaths of 21 soldiers. Despite being aware of his actions, he chose to cover up the truth and protect himself and his family, rather than take responsibility for what he had done.
pg 70:"Chris... Chris, I did it for you, it was a chance and I took it for you. I'm sixty one years old, when would I have another chance tomake something for you? Sixty one years old you don't get another chance, do ya?"

He is nearing 60's businessman, he is white.

Opinion
In the eyes of the community, Joe as seen as a successful and respected businessman, but as the truth about his actions comes to light, this reputation is called into question and his public standing is diminished. Now everyone act like they think of him they same as before the news but everybody knows the truth but they just do nothing about it.
pg 45:"Sue: WHo is he to ruin a man's life? Everybody knows Joe pulled a fast one to get out of jail."
