Evolution
-
How does it work?
Every living thing reproduces and we pass our DNA to future generations, when our DNA is copied errors can occur (mutations). These mutations then will be passed on for generations. (This is how evolution happens)
Natural selection is the process by which random evolutionary changes are selected for by nature in a consistent, orderly, non-random way
-
Why is it usefull?
Its useful as thanks to this common descent can happen and animals are able to adapt and become better at surviving in the environments they live in
What is common descent?
Common descent is the idea that all living things have a common ancestor and thanks to natural selection other living things have derived and that's why we're different.

Examples
When ostriches evolved to have larger bodies, feet that helped them to run on land
