Days of Type - Coggle Diagram
Days of Type
Participants are challenged to design a letter or number each day, resulting in an outcome of the ability to represent the same symbol from many different perspectives.
For this assessment task you are to illustrate a series of letterforms based on a theme, running from A-Z (and then 0-9). You are free to choose the media and size of your original illustrations. Experiment with techniques before you begin, it helps to be consistent once started, as this forms the basis of the challenge.
Once you have completed the days of type challenge (min 26, max 36) scan or photograph your original illustrations and create a series of 10 postcards.

Consider the tools and materials that these artists would have used to produce their letterforms and explain how you might incorporate these into your own work
Create a timeline to plan your days of type schedule & brainstorm themes and approaches to how you will create the
letterforms. Consider style, illustration techniques, colour, media etc.
Experiment safely with different approaches, media, styles and techniques using a variety of compositional formats and colour schemes - documentation must be shown in visual diary
Explain visual communication and the fundamentals of typography; such as anatomy and classification for each letter created & present experimental concepts to peers and seek and document feedback
Evaluate the success of your concepts from the experimentation stage in relation to the initial brief and select final typographic approach and final media style & complete all letters as per schedule
