Common issues in public education
Lack of Funding
Lack of funding causes major distress on the students and teachers. Along with being in distress they are not able to learn to their fullest potential because they do not have all the resources they need.
Due to not being able to get the resources students are only learning parts of topics and lessons. They are not getting the full education that they deserve.
Areas with high poverty rates are struggling the most with finding resources that are needed in the classroom.
Teachers do not get paid much and when having to deal with the issue of lack of resources it can cause them to lose their will to want to teach due to the extra stress.
The biggest problem seen with lack of funding is the lack of resources in the classroom. The lack of resources in the classroom is a major issue for students learning experience.

Classroom Size
When the class size is large the teacher is having to divide their attention by the number of students in their classroom at any given time and not all students are getting the attention they need.
When class sizes are large teachers refer to easy to grade assignments rather than meaningful assignments. Which is taking away from developing students critical thinking skills.
Large class sizes negatively affect students test scores. It has been proven that students math and reading skills were higher for students in smaller class settings.
Large classes lead to more behavior issues. With small classes the teacher is able to see them all clearly and seat them farther apart.

When there are too many students in the classroom to monitor their progress it then tends to become a low priority.
Technology
Teachers now have to spend class time telling students to put their devices away every period which is resulting in lose of valuable instructional time.
76% of teachers believe that students are being conditioned by the internet to find quick answers, whcih causes them to lose concentration.
50% of teachers have said that technology has hurt critical thinking and their ability to do homework.
60% of teachers say that technology has negatively affected students ability to write and communicate in person.
90% of teachers believe that digital technologies are creating a generation that is easily distracted and has short attention spans.
Technology has become the key to becoming distracted and off task. Students are using social media on their devices rather than listening to the teacher and doing their classwork which promotes lack of focus.
Poverty
For the poorest families school is too expensive which results in children having to stay home and do chores or even go to work.
Around 15 million girls never get the chance to attend school, compared to 10 million boys.
Families who are living in poverty have to choose between sending their child to school or providing their basic needs.
Even if a family does not have to pay tuition fees there is still added costs with school. Those added costs could be uniforms, books, supplies, or exam fees.
Some girls face lack of access to menstrual hygiene management which stops them from attending school.

Bullying
1 out of every 4 teens are bullied and 5.4 million students stay home from school because they are afraid of being bullied.

Depending on the age group, up to 43% of students have been bullied while online and 1 in 4 have had it happen more than once.
58% of children have not told their parents or an adult about something mean or hurtful that happened to them online.
Child and teen bullying and cyber bullying is at an all time high and some kids are so tormented that suicide has become an alternative for them.
