What do you consider to be your greatest achievement? Why does it mean so much to you?
(Expository reflective)
achievement- something to be proud of, do not have to be big but need to be impactful
feeling after making an achievement
before knowing failure
growing up unveils me to reality
- failing to become a good student (my classmates being smarter than me)
- not being a good daughter (not getting up to my parent's expectations)
- not being the best version of myself (always doubting myself, i need to be the best at everything)
feelings: i felt uncapable, useless for not being able to do such simple things.
shameful- when my classmates can do things i could not do
i feared that my future will be ruined if i kept failing - i will grow up with a bad job and everyone will be judging me (NO PATH TO SUCCESS)
-
i felt devasted and stupid for not being able to dance well. months of practices had gone to waste. (biggest failure of my life)
i locked myself in the room and did not want to see anyone, skip all 3 meals
my mother came in to my room to cheer me up. (had a little conversation in my room)
i asked "have you ever dreaming of living in a fairy tale where everything is perfect?". she replied no "life in fairytale is boring. our challenges and failures makes reality more exciting. even though you did not scored the champion but you will always be the number 1 champion in my heart
real life examples: Thomson Edison tried 10000 methods to invent light bulb. his continuous effort and hard work to create light bulb, he did not view failure as a negative way but treated it as a way of learning--> "you learn from failure not success
i changed the way i view failure.
- without it, i will not have courage that keeps me going
- failure is not permanent as i have my pillar of support from my family and teachers who can guide me to overcome the obstacle course
- nobody succeeds on the first try, i should not give up when we fail on the first attempt
