ELECTRICITY
1752: Benjamin Franklin discovered the electricity. In Ancient Greece, some investigators discovered Static Electricity.
-
1786: Luigi Galvani(Scientist and a Medical Doctor) It produces contractions in the frog's muscles by touching the nerves of those muscles with scissors during an electrical storm. He finds that the contact between the metal hooks that hold the frog and the iron support where they are attached produces the same effect.
1796: Alessandro Volta, questioned Galvanis discovery. He wondered if he could make electricity rather than just observe it like Galvani did.
1800: Volta created the "Voltaic pile" (the combination of zinc and silver discs piled on top of each other with a cloth soaked in salt wather separating.
1820: Andre Marie Ampere is the first to explain how an electric circuit works". The term "amp" was named aftrer him.
-
1792: Alessandro Volta discovered an electric current when two metals touch. He invented batteries and volt was named after him.
1831: Michael Faraday invents the first electric generator.
1879: Thomas Edisson invents the first light bulb.
He also invents a type of generator that works with Watts Steam engine.
1890: Electricity arrived in what was to become the province of Saskatchewan. Electric light came first to Regina and within a few months to Moose Jaw and Prince Albert.
1891: Nikola Tesla invented the Tesla coil, which recreated the effects of lightning in a way that could be controlled by by humans.
