disadvantages: insanitary - exposed to flies, nuisance of sight and smell, air pollution, ground surface and water pollution

disadvantage: river pollution, water borne disease, toxicity to fish and flora, rubbish float back to beaches, pollution of river water quality if it as the main source of drinking water
controlled tipping: satisfactory method if suitable land available for long period, trench built to place waste, adequately compacted, covered with a layer of earth at the end of each day operation or more frequent intervals
