My understanding
This business is portraying a fresh, natural, fun, inclusive and simple image to viewers via a set muted colour scheme and minimalistic layout. To connect their business to science they've featured a Serif font and used Sans Serif throughout their website. This links to the minimalistic style and overall cleanliness of the website. There are no bright, bold colours and repetitive patterns/vectors.
Initial Concepts
Simple line vector of an ocean wave with font next to or overlapping. Ocean wave isn't gendered and can help the brand connect to wider market. The ocean is fresh and clean and the one of the key influencers for the business.
Rounded leaves in a circle surrounding the logo. Use pale greens and pink currently on logo. Leaves aren't gendered and can be manipulated easily. Will connect to the message of all natural ingredients. Multiple kinds of plants that have simple leaves. The number of leaves can be manipulated or they can be on a branch/stem.
Scientific symbolism connecting with nature (leaf or water) in the hand of a person. Build the connection between science, nature and people. Skin on hands can be edited to look clean, fresh and natural. Issue: what scientific symbolism would work or be most appropriate. Multiple factors to this logo would mean more details, therefore, the vectors would need to be simple in order to maintain the client's current style.
Make one of the legs of the logo 'H' turn into a palm tree. Build the connection with the beach and possibly attract a new audience with the connection. Palm trees are considered masculine and feminine depending on the style, maintaining a simplistic style and balance to ensure the logo doesn't become a surf shop logo.
Baby's Breath is a tiny flower that grows in small groups on stems. Making a circle of these or connecting them to the font could add detail and link to the business' current style and aesthetic.
