Students have completed PBL. As the project wraps up, the teacher will take three days to make sure that students have had their needs met during this assignment and have been provided appropriate differentiation.
Group 3. Need re-teach on a specific subject: These students have produced a final project that shows at least an 80% mastery of the mathematical and environmental concepts taught in the unit. They have only one area that they are struggling with and only need a re-teach of that one lesson.
Day One & Day Two:
These students will spend two days working independently with the same format as the enrichment group. On the day of the reteach on the material that has not been mastered, they will put their work aside and attend the in-person session with group 1. On the days that they are working independently, they will also be expected to fill out an exit ticket.
Day Three: Each student will have a brief conference with the teacher to review what they have accomplished.
Group 2. Need Enrichment:
These students have shown 100% mastery of the mathematical and environmental concepts taught in the lesson and are ready for enrichment work.
Day One and Day Two: Students will be given a book bin with non-fiction books that are appropriate for their individual levels and relate to the subject matter. After each book, students will be asked to summarize the information. This can take several different forms including an essay, poetry, drawing, 1 minute video. Descriptions and examples of each will be provided. They may finish just one book or they may finish more. They will self-pace themselves but will complete an exit ticket at the end of class that explains how they have used their instructional time. They may choose to work with a partner if that is preferred but both students need to read the book.
