Human impact on Natural Environments
Grasslands
Grasslands are subject of sam threat of desertificatiojn as deserts regions with overgrazing of animals being one of the main causes
Other Threats that suffer is that poachers are attracted for native animlas from grasslands, such as lions and elephants, so they make money from their tusks, horns and furs selling them.
Another threats is the sale of ivory, human destroy natural habitats to search ivory
Turism is also another threat because if we dont managed carfeully to ensure the natural environment is well it would be damaged for future generations
Deserts
Human impact on desert we can say that is less because is more gradual and not immediately visible to the naked eye
The main threat that desert suffer is desertification
Desertification is the turning of land into desert, and there are many things that cause this:
Some cause are: Climate change consecuence of that gloval warming , other cause is population grow, with more population people need more crops (over cultivation), more animals (over grazing) and it decrease the demand of fuelwood and that cause deforesation.
Rainforest
Deforestation is the biggest threat in the rainforest
The Amazon experienced particularly high levels of this. According to the WWF, 17 percent of the forest has been lost in the last 50 years
When trees are overexploited conditions change very quickly, the soil dries up and causes erosion.
Tundra
Tundra faces direct human impact on this natural environment
The building, and subsequent operation, have caused significant environmental disruption to the natural environment of the tundra
Indirect human impacts on the tundra areas are more noticeable in the form of global warming and the subsequent melting of polar ice which consequently is thought to cause a rise in sea level, global warming is the rise in world temperature.
Tundra areas are rich in minerals and the Trans-Alaska Pipeline is an example of how humans interacted with this environment
Fresh water
Human impacts on fresh water environments is driven by the growing demand for fresh water.
.
Agro- industrialization requires the use of chemicals to form fertilizers and pesticides, fertilizers are added to the soil, which leach through the soil field drainage into rivers and lakes.
This is an issue because when algae begin to die for this toxic fertilizers this reduce the amount of oxygen in water killing a lot of animals that live in the water.
The pressure for food to sustain the population has led development of intensive agriculture, this is bad because this lack of tree cover leads to soil erosion, which means rivers and lakes receive more sediment.
The demand for water is increasing as the population rises, not only the water for drinking but also to irrigate crops and thus help the production of food.
Marine areas
Overfishing to provide food for our ever growing population is another example of how human impacts the natural environments, the north sea is one area that is suffering from this.
.
In warmer oceans coral is being damaged in wide variety of ways, coral bleaching is one of the most prevalent forms of destruction, and happens when temperature of the oceans increase for a period of at least 2 weeks.
Plastic in the ocean is another pressing issue in relation to humans and the aquatic natural environment, the impact of plastic includes harm the animals, environmental damage and health consequence for humans should plastic enter the food chain through fish.
Large-scale industrial fishing is also harming fish stocks due to the ways in which fish are caught. Many fish injured in the process and are thrown back into the sea because they don’t meet standards.
