        sense of ambition and responsibility, occurs when parents allow a child to explore within limits and then support the child’s choice.
      - Those who fail in this stage are left with a sense of guilt and doubt.
        
        initiative misfiring or stifled by over-controlling parents—may develop feelings of guilt.
        
        If such activities are encouraged, the child would develop a sense of power .Through both interacting with others socially and through play, your child develops self-confidence and learns to enjoy having a sense of purpose.

        Those who succeed feel a sense of competence
        
        Those who fail feel inferior or inadequate
        
        They may develop an inferiority complex in adolescence and adulthood due to negative experiences with peers
        
        Children praised and encouraged by their parents and teachers develop a feeling of competence and belief in their abilities whereas those who receive little or no encouragement from parents, teachers, or peers will doubt their abilities to be successful.
