Aim
Aimed to investigate the behaviour of an individual towards other in-group members and out-group members
Methodology
Used 64 Teenage males (14-15 years)
First experiment split into groups according to 'test scores'
Second experiment split groups according to preference of a painting
Experiment 1: Allocated varying amounts of money to people in your group and others
Experiment 2: Decide whether they gave money to everyone or just their group
Limitations
Low population validity (used just teenage boys
Research from 1970, may lack historical validity
Research was conducted in very artificial conditions, lacks ecological validity

Participants gave significantly more money to their own group than others
