Standard position-> Position of the body used as reference when it is needed to locate any structure.

Parietal layers- Line the walls of the body cavity.
Visceral layer- Covers the organs
Body Membranes
Mucous- Has goblet cells which protects the body from bacteria or viruses.
Line the tubes of the digestive, respiratory, unrinary and the reproductive system.

Synovial- Line freely movable joint cavities.
They secrete synovial fluis that lubricates the cartilage at the end of the bones so that they can move smoothly in the joint cavity.

Serous Membrane
Pleura. Surrounds the lungs in the pleural cavity.
Plericardium. Surrounds the heart in the PERICARDIAL cavity.
Peritoneum. Surrounds several organs in the ABDOMINOPELVIC cavity.
