TEACHING THE LANGUAGE SYSTEM
Inductive Approach
in this approach things happen the other way around. In other words, instead of moving from the rules to the examples, students view language examples and try to solve the rules.
This method is focused on the students, they interact more and unlike the deductive method they are more autonomous and it is the students who have control, explain what they understand and the teacher corrects them once everything has been explained.
Teaching Vocabulary
It is the teaching of different words which seeks its origin, its structural changes and the meaning where it expands a new vocabulary that was not in its lexicon in that way learning its spelling and pronunciation to be used.
Mistakes, errors, slips and attempts
In the language many mistakes can be made, such as writing and speaking, which will be divided into three:
Errors
They are mistakes
that they cannot be corrected on their own, and therefore need a concrete explanation to be understood.
Attempts
They are mistakes students make when they try to say something but still don't know how to say it well.
Slips
Are those mistakes that students can
they correct themselves once the error has been pointed out to them
Explaining the construction of language
The teacher also seeks that his student has a good grammatical use and in addition to that he has a good intonation and pronunciation in each word and sentence, a key way is to mark the hits in the words which contain stress and drawing the melody in the air to distinguish intonation.
Teaching Grammar
It refers to the way of teaching grammar using methods of practice and explanation for a good learning in the language.
For example, if you want to teach the simple present, you can show students photos or illustrations alluding to an occupation or action, in that way you can ask questions and reflect what is in the image such as sentences, verification questions among others, which will do a lot easier to understand what is being taught.
Teaching the language functions
It is based on how we can communicate correctly and on how the context and use of language is understood by making good use of verbs, tenses, phrases, structures and vocabulary, making good use of when we communicate and in what way and transmit a good language with different functionalities.
Teaching Pronunciation
It is the ability to teach and learn the sound and pronunciation of different words, that is, to know the accent of the words, the accent of the sentences, their intonation and all the phonetic and phonological implications of the words that influence the sound.
Explaining Meaning
There are different ways to teach the meaning but we are not looking for students to translate in most countries there is translation of words through web pages, however it is necessary for students to acquire knowledge naturally, for example: you want to explain the meaning of the book Then we show a book and in this way when the object is shown the student will know what it refers to.
Another way to teach the meaning is by mimicry and the student must analyze what its meaning is, in this way she learns in a more dynamic way without having to use the translator.
Deductive Approach
In the deductive approach, students receive explanations or grammar rules, based on these explanations or rules, they make phrases and sentences using the new language.
It is a teacher-centered approach since students do not have much opportunity to participate, this method consists of doing repetitive exercises to reinforce knowledge.
Controlled and freer practice
It seeks that the students practice the language they are studying so that they can try it out and get used to saying or writing it. also have students see new words, phrases, and grammar over and over again. but in a more free and natural way, without the need to go to translation.
