Slavery: Millions of Africans were brought to the US as slaves. In the 1820-1850 slavery was limited to territories in the South.
In 1954, however, a law passed that allowed slavery to expand westwards. A new political party was established with Lincoln as their leader. When Lincoln became president in 1861, civil war broke out.

The Iraq/Afghanistan war (started in 2001 with America wanting to remove Taliban from power, main suspects of the 9/11 attacks.)

After France's defeat in 1763, Native Americans were given reservations of land by the british government.

New constitution in 1787. Became framework for democracy.
In the 1850's Native Americans and Mexicans were forcibly killed or removed to reservations. Mexican-American war broke out in 1846-1848. Mexico lost.
Within a century, colonial settlements grew into 13 separate colonies with territories expanding westward. This made conflict with France.

By 1920 America has become the largest industrial power in the world. (And also grown significantly due to immigration.)
