Evidence collection kit In addition to receiving care for any injuries, victim will be asked if he/she wish to consent to an evidence collection kit, which would be used to identify the assailant and to document the injuries. Victim will be asked to consent to each step individually and can accept or decline any specific part of the evidence collection. The external genitals, vagina, anus, and rectum would be swabbed and possibly photographed. In addition, fingernail scrapings and clippings, pubic and head hair samples, and blood and saliva samples are usually obtained.
