Cigarette butts One of the most coommon type of litter. Cigarette filters are full of plastics that can take up to 12 years to decompose. Their toxins sip into the water.
Landfill The liquid and substances in the landfill react with each other generating a toxic fluid called leachate, which can cause pollution of rivers and acquifers. Landfill gas contains methane, which can be explosive and contributes to the greenhouse effect.
Chewing gum. It's not biodegradable. Most of it isn't disposed of in any litter receptacle. Fish consume littered gum, which accumulates toxins overtime.
