Need to be aware of what is not there, so that we dont miss/ignore characteristics after we classify a type of aphasia

Dual stream model: tells you what areas of language correspond with what part of the brain; tells you what arteries supply what parts of the brain
Assessments
Areas usually assessed
- Spoken discourse eg. conversational speech, describing pics ; Variability, many modalities can be impacted
- Auditory comprehension: two part commands eg. put pen on other side of the book and bring it to me ; how reliable is their yes/no response
- Verbal expression eg. automatic speech, repeating, naming
4.Reading comprehension eg. words, sentences, paras
- Written expression: automatic writing, writing to dictation ; ppl can cue themselves by tracing shape of letter to jog their memory. Need to try diff strategies to get to root of problem
