Language
Authors use language to express
themselves. Language is used to paint a
picture in our minds. The authors’
emotions are usually expressed in the
tone of the language they use.
To make their writing interesting
authors use figurative language:
similes, metaphors, personification etc.
They use powerful adjectives to give
vivid descriptions of events, characters
and settings.
Language used in a text
Figurative language
creates a mental picture in
our minds.
Example: The trees danced to
the rhythm of the wind.
The personification used in
the example shows how the
tree moved by giving it
human feature.
