Head Injury - Coggle Diagram

- - - - Assess general status of the patient.
        
        Determine whether exposure to community violence is contributing to risk for injury.
        
        Assess mood coping abilities, personality style that may result in carelessnes.
        
        Check on home environment for threats to safety: clutter, improper storage of chemicals, slippery floors, scatter rugs, unstable stairs and stairwells, blocked entries, dim lighting, extension cords across pathways, hazardous electrical or gas connections.
        
        Recognize racial/ethnic diversity at the onset of care.
        
        Evaluate the importance of cultural beliefs, norms, and values on the patient’s perceptions of risk for injury.
- - - - Loss of consciousness for a few seconds to a few minutes
      - No loss of consciousness, but a state of being dazed, confused or disoriented
      - Headache
      - Nausea or vomiting
      - Fatigue or drowsiness
      - Problems with speech
      - Difficulty sleeping
      - Sleeping more than usual
      - Dizziness or loss of balance
      - Mild physical symptoms include:
    - - Loss of consciousness from several minutes to hours
      - Persistent headache or headache that worsens
      - Repeated vomiting or nausea
      - Convulsions or seizures
      - Dilation of one or both pupils of the eyes
      - Clear fluids draining from the nose or ears
      - Inability to awaken from sleep
      - Weakness or numbness in fingers and toes
      - Loss of coordination
    - - Profound confusion
      - Agitation, combativeness or other unusual behavior
      - Slurred speech
      - Coma and other disorders of consciousness
