Noah Chases The Wind
-
How does the author communicate
the story e.g. images, words?
-
-
Flowey dreamy images once he is on the search for his answer. Both to give the illusion of dreaming but also floating on the wind
Nothing is over complicated. This makes the book accessible for young children to read but also for adults to read to children and also to themselves to gain a better understanding
Who is the book about
Noah, A young boy who is on the autism spectrum. However this is not actually mentioned within the book itself, just he is different. By not mentioning Noah is on the spectrum we are preventing labelling him as well as opening it to the whole of the spectrum not just one "type"
What is the book about
Noah likes to understand how things work and what they do. He becomes upset and his "head and body hurt" when he can't understand. He has a passion for the weather. Noah wanted to know where the wind goes. Noah follows the wind on a journey to see where it goes
Through the use of 'whispy' and watery style pictures we can assume this is done via a dream as the pictures look floaty
Location of the book
The location starts at Noahs house but goes various places - under a tree, a highway and above the clouds. By not using a specific town (or made up town) such as Sydney or London, this allows the book to be identifiable to any child in the world. No images of specific locations are used either.
