Reproduction
Animal
Reproduction in animals occurs through fission, budding, fragmentation, and parthenogenesis
-
Plant
Pollination:the transfer of pollen to a stigma, ovule, flower, or plant to allow fertilization
After pollination occurs, fertilization happens and the ovules grow into seeds within a fruit.
-
Sensitivity
Animal
Animals have sense organs, such as eyes, that tell them what is going on outside their bodies.
Plant
Plants are able to detect and respond to light, gravity, changes in temperature, chemicals, and even touch
plants do not have nerves or muscles, so they cannot move very fast.
-
Excreation
Animal
lungs excrete carbon dioxide as breathe out, kidneys filter out nasties to produce urine, removing nitrogen waste from body, and your skin sheds excess salt through sweat.
Plant
Plants produce oxygen, carbon dioxide and water (by fruits)
Definition
Removal from organisms of toxic materials, the waste products of metabolism( chemical reactions in cells including respiration) and substances in excess of requirements
Movement
Animal
A large number of animals move around using their limbs, and the limbs are moved by muscles.
-
Plant
The movement of higher plants are chiefly in the form of bending, twisting, and elongation of certain plant parts or organs
-
Nutrition
Animal
There are seven major classes of nutrients: carbohydrates, fats, fibre, minerals, proteins, vitamins, and water.
Animal nutrition focuses on the dietary nutrients needs of animals, primarily those in agriculture and food production, but also in zoos, aquariums, and wildlife management
Plant
Plants do require inorganic salts, which they absorb from the soil surrounding their roots
Definition
Taking in of nutrients which are organic substances and mineral ions, containing raw materials or energy for growth and tissue repair, absorbing and assimilating them.
Growth
Animal
The growth of animals is more restricted in time than is that of plants, but cell division is more generally distributed throughout the body of the organism.
Height increase in mammals is limited by cessation of cell division and bone deposition in the long bones.
Plant
-
a type of plant tissue consisting of undifferentiated cells that can continue to divide and differentiate.
-
Respiration
Animal
-
Cellular respiration is the process by which animals take in oxygen and exchange it for carbon dioxide and water as waste products.
Plant
Photosynthesis Respiration takes place in the mitochondria of the cell in the presence of oxygen, which is called "aerobic respiration"
