CGES reflections of the continuation of learning.
What worked well?
insert links for student to use in the chat
collaborating with my team on a daily basis
Detailed planners with plenty of resources
being flexible as a staff/team and just trying our best and working together
trying to keep as much of the "classroom" at home as possible
using online resources
flexible schedules
Virtual Field trips
breakout rooms
para-educator small groups
Team collaboration and zoom meetings
working in small groups and one on one with students to offer support for their IEP goals
Students received instruction amidst a difficult time. They were able to connect with their teacher and classmates while being safe.
Recorded lessons that helped both parents and students understand the expectations/assignment
adapting routines from the classroom to fit into a virtual model
Keeping things fairly simple and routine
Giving students social connections with teachers and peers
What do we need for continued success?
All student's access to technology
All students having
access to wifi, as well as technology
understanding the different roles in the team and how they can be fully utilized online
continue to outline online behavior expectations for students
agency
training
small groups
see examples of other schools/classes that are implementing online learning
understanding the expectations-scheduling
Figure out how to use canvas for special ed support.
students having tangibles
Provide students some manipulatives
What did not work well?
having different zoom logins
Teaching a curriculum and learning platform that I was unfamiliar with
no cameras
Breakout rooms
Not all students submitted assignments. Keeping the kids engaged was challenging at times. Not all students participated/kept their cameras off.
videos were long and students lost focus
managing parent involvement-some over-involved
participation from all students
how to manage behavior in virtual setting
From Summer Boost-having all the grades on one page
Not being able to see students/microphone also off
expectations of students for participation and login
short time to learn new platforms and curriculum
No accountability for students to complete their work.
Unstable internet connections
Getting work from all the students, some students consistently didn't want to complete their homework and turn it in.
What do we need to focus on less?
making it pretty :) Be more worried about content
due dates for assignments
all the different platforms. If we use them, they need to be linked in Classroom.
Less focus on the product, more on the process!
)
planning
On-going reflection with students
structure and consistency, as well as opportunities for guided inquiry projects
more sharing of ideas/problem-solving
Giving students multiple ways to express their understanding
not all students consistently logging in
managing paperwork and other added expectations (sp.ed)
all students have their own chromebook
Agendas and to-do lists
