Alina M5U5A1 Pre-Assessment for differentiation in K1 Chinese lesson
Strategies:
The day before telling the story, I will supply a picture of this story to each student,and ask them questions to check their konwlege of vocabulary,the ability of saying sentences,what happend in the story and Connotation of the story。
the same day get pre-assessment
On the lesson of 小马过河:
Ask some questions before telling the story and they need to tell the answer after,the questions should include different levels.
After the story telling, check the answer.
Learn the improtant wards of this story like : 小马, 妈妈, 松鼠, 牛,小河,深,浅.
give 3 groups different stations
group 1 they have 3 choices

group 3
3 students’ who are struggling with language:they will practice the imporatna words and then try to shorten sentences from the pictures. and students coming from group 1 can play the matching game(matching words with pictures) with these 3 students.
give help to the 2 kids who have special conditions.
they will get to smaller group by every 2 kids ,they will ask the questions to each other;
they can retell the story to his/her partner.
they will get the story book, they will try to read themselves ;
The can go to pick a character and act out the story;
They can go to be a helper and go to help group 3.
They can go to try the Different objects float or sink in the water;
Based on the data,separate the class into 3 groups.
group 2: the 12 students who have some knowledge about the topic as shown in their score, but need to develop higher order thinking skills
group 3: the 5 students who appear to have limited knowledge about the topic, of which 3 are struggling with language and are at different reading levels and 2 students who have little to no comprehension of the topic and need to be tested further for special needs.
Send the important words with pictures to the 3 students’ parents who are struggling with language.
contact with the 2 students’ family to get more information on the 2 students.
