Berry, Daughtery & Wieder (2010) argue teacher leadership is taking control of student learning using the best practices and research-based strategies" out there. Wasley (as cited in Muijs & Harris, 2003) defines teacher leadership as "the ability to encourage colleagues to change, to do things they wouldn’t ordinarily consider without the influence of the leader''.
Teacher leaders are identified as being in a "unique position to make change happen" and their leadership is associated with school improvement, teacher agent improvement, school democratization, teacher learning, and developing a collaborative culture. (Suryana, Widiawati & Widdah (2020).
