FATE
COURAGE
AMIR
Though he showed the least, he showed the most when it mattered. Going to save Sohrab was a massive mountain to climb and he risked his life and everything he had in America to do so. It was fate that brought him to this point, to showcase the courage he never had in order to bring Sohrab home.
BABA
Again, his was showcased throughout the entirety of the book. Without Baba's courage when they smuggled themselves to Pakistan, they would've never got to America. He also raised Amir, and prepared him as a man for what he eventually did.
HASSAN
His courage throughout the entirety of the book was commendable. Like when he first stood up for himself and Amir against Assef and the bullies. Then, later on when he ran the kite and Assef assaulted him. And again when died. His courage is what created this vengeance that Assef wanted.
LOSS
HASSAN
The loss of Hassan and his wife put Sorhab in an orphanage, which is what got Rahim Khan to call Amir.

WAR
PASHTUNS VS HAZARAS
The war between the two ethnic groups, primarily the hate the Pashtuns had for the Hazaras, inevitably created the shame, embarrassment, and disloyalty Amir had towards Hassan. Which in turn created Amir's past he had tried to bury for years. This is in part to eventually bringing Sohrab to Amir.
TALIBAN
Without the reign of the Taliban, Hassan would be alive, Rahim Khan would not have given Amir a phone call to make things good again, and Sohrab - all Afghans for that matter - would be living a good life in Afghanistan.
REDEMPTION
Everything that happened from the beginning of the book and throughout most of it, was carved out for Amir to redeem himself. How he treated Hassan. Not stepping in for Hassan when he got assaulted. What he did with the watch and money. Fate brought him to the ultimate sacrifice of his life in order to save his half brothers son to redeem what he had done in the past.
LOVE
SORAYA
Fate brought Amir and Soraya to America. It brought them to the flea market where they met and then fell in love.
LOYALTY
HASSAN TO AMIR
The loyalty Hassan had for Amir is what unfortunately caused himself and Ali to move out when he wouldn't admit that he did not steal the watch and money in order to protect Amir from Baba. That loyalty paved their paths from then on
