        Using Visual Studio code to Expedite Software Development
      - Abstract
        
        This is an open-source piece of software. It is a text editor with many plugins that allow developers to easily edit the code, use version control, and enables them to use many different plugins that are developed by the community.
      - Goal or Business Opportunity
        
        Visual studio code is a code editing tool created by an opensource community lead by Microsoft. This is currently the leading text editor for many programming languages due to the many integrations and plugins offered by the community, that could potentially replace many older, more inefficient tools.
      - Current Situation
        
        Currently many developers across JnJ need to have a piece of software that enables them to edit code, deploy it, test it, and go back to it. Most code editing tools are expensive and cheap ones are not as reliable.
      - Hypothesis
        
        Visual Studio Code could potentially be one of the best tools to be used across JnJ for source-code editing and version control.
      - Analysis (while the user is researching/trialing the tool, they would update this section with their observations. This is the living document that captures the user's findings from their testing.
        
        This tool cannot be used for certain types of software development such as Android development as well as iOS development, since those require a full suite of tools. However, it is useful for web development, most compiled programming languages, and editing config files. It also has great version control.

        Encourage developers to learn and use Visual Studio Code and monitor their productivity.
      - Measurement
        
        Keep track of the development's sprint burndown time to see if developers did more in a shorter amount of time because of VS code.
      - Confirmation (essentially states if the idea was a success or not, after experimenting with it)
        
        After using the tool for 3 months, I can confirm that it is an extremely viable replacement for most code editing tools. The tool is working as expected, and the devs who used it found it much more easier to work with.
