Hydrological Cycle
Flow
Percolation: The dripping of water through the soil, into the water table
-
-
-
Groundwater flow: The water that drips through the soil and into the water table flows into the rivers and lakes.
-
Storage
-
-
Interception: During rainfall, some of the water is intercepted by the leaves. (Interception happens in the canopy, and throughfall and stemflow are the major components)
-
-
Output
-
-
Evapotranspiration: The total water that is transferred from the land via evaporation from the ground and transpiration from the leaves
-
Input
Precipitation: The result of condensation and gravity due to which water falls in the form of hail, rain, sleet and snow.
